City of Loma Linda Selects Vendors for FTTH

May 17, 2004

A A

The City of Loma Linda, California selected Allied Telesyn, Anixter, Corning, ShoreTel, MUNET and WatchGuard for a city-wide FTTH project. The municipal network has an active Ethernet architecture for delivering its broadband services. Loma Linda will follow an open systems model for providing services.

The Loma Linda Connected Community Program will provide FTTH infrastructure for any new home construction. All new housing will be equipped for fiber access. The project will also build a common city-wide optical infrastructure based on Allied Telesyn and Corning solutions. The city will be deploying IP-based water meters with wireless communications collection points. The collection point will then be networked with Ethernet to a nearby Allied Telesyn “Fiber to the Home” (FTTH) Residential Gateway. Loma Linda also plans surveillance monitoring of neighborhood play areas, integrated traffic lights and cross walk controls. http://www.alliedtelesyn.com
