Clearfield launched its new StreetSmart Ready Connect Terminal (RCT), a compact fiber terminal designed to simplify broadband deployment in space-constrained environments. Supporting up to eight drop connections, the RCT is optimized for mid-span applications and small pedestal installations, such as Clearfield’s CraftSmart FiberFirst 6-inch pedestal. Designed with feedback from broadband operators, the terminal balances aesthetics, functionality, and long-term reliability.

Engineered for versatility, the RCT supports both terminated and spliced fiber drops, offering features like a removable splice tray that accommodates up to 24 loose-tube fibers. The design ensures efficient installation across rural, suburban, and urban settings while maintaining a low profile to preserve the visual integrity of residential and commercial areas. The terminal’s robust materials and secure cable retention systems provide reliable protection against environmental stressors.

The product aims to address the growing demand for flexible, scalable fiber solutions in above-ground TAP and distributed split architectures. Donny Colson, Director of OSP Engineering and Operations at Palmetto Rural Telephone Cooperative, commented, “The Ready Connect Terminal fits perfectly into our plans. It offers splicing options, protects fiber strands from damage, and streamlines deployment across our member network.”

• Compact Design: Fits into Clearfield’s 6-inch CraftSmart pedestal, ideal for space-sensitive deployments.

• Flexible Applications: Supports mid-span splicing and drop terminations, adaptable to various environments.

• Ease of Use: Features a removable splice tray and adapter plate for efficient cleaning, scoping, and splicing.

• Durable Build: Offers secure cable retention and long-term environmental protection.
