Clouditalia, a provider of integrated telecommunications and cloud services throughout Italy, has selected Coriant’s mTera Universal Transport Platform (UTP) for its nationwide cloud services infrastructure. Clouditalia will deploy the multi-terabit, universal switching solution at major network sites to create a service-agnostic architecture capable of cost-effectively integrating diverse traffic types and accelerating the deployment of end-user services. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“As more and more small, medium, and large enterprises throughout Italy rely on cloud services to support their critical business needs, the underlying broadband infrastructure needs to not only scale as traffic demands increase, but also become more adaptable and reliable,” said Marco Iannucci, Chief Executive Officer, Clouditalia. “The Coriant mTera® UTP solution enables us to efficiently scale to multi-terabit levels while bringing more dynamic capabilities to our cloud infrastructure network. This powerful combination will help us enhance the highly tailored cloud and data services we offer our customers.”

  • Last year, Coriant introducted its mTera Universal Transport Platform designed to serve a variety of roles in next-gen packet optical networks, including metro-to-LH gateway applications and on-demand data center connectivity. The Coriant mTera platform, which is the first product to come to market since the merging of Coriant and Tellabs, brings together compact, simplified and efficient traffic grooming from Tellabs and photonic-layer technology and system performance from Coriant.

Clouditalia, a provider of integrated telecommunications and cloud services throughout Italy, has deployed the Coriant 7090 Packet Transport Platform to enhance service delivery to its Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) business customers.

The Coriant Packet Transport Network (PTN) solution, which includes support for MPLS-TP, enables Clouditalia to cost-effectively deliver flexible Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) services directly to end-user business customers, while expanding support for growing cloud and Data Center Interconnect (DCI) applications. With the ability to efficiently support diverse traffic types on the same platform, the Coriant solution also enables Clouditalia to enhance customer value by seamlessly migrating legacy services such as E1, SDH, and lower bit rate Ethernet.
