Coherent Corp. introduced the industry’s first 793nm pump laser diode with a record-breaking 28W output power and 97% polarization purity, setting a new benchmark for Thulium fiber laser applications. This high-power laser diode enhances laser system efficiency and performance, addressing growing demand in medical and industrial markets. By delivering higher power pumping, the 793nm chip enables greater fiber laser output, leading to shorter treatment times in medical applications and new capabilities in industrial settings.

With exceptional polarization purity, the new 793nm pump laser diode allows for more efficient laser designs, reducing operational costs while improving beam quality and stability. As Thulium fiber laser adoption expands, Coherent’s latest innovation supports advancements in precision medical treatments, industrial processing, and emerging photonics applications. The 793nm chip is now commercially available, complementing Coherent’s portfolio of fiber-coupled diode laser modules, Thulium-doped fibers, and optics, positioning the company as a leading provider of next-generation laser solutions.

Key Points:

• 28W 793nm pump laser diode sets new power and polarization purity benchmarks for Thulium fiber laser applications.

• 97% polarization purity improves laser efficiency, reducing system costs and optimizing performance.

• Enables higher-power Thulium fiber lasers, leading to faster medical treatments and new industrial applications.

• Part of Coherent’s broader fiber laser ecosystem, integrating with diode modules, Thulium-doped fibers, and optics.

• Now commercially available, marking a milestone in high-power fiber laser technology.

“We are proud to introduce a class-leading chip that combines unprecedented power and polarization purity, pushing the boundaries of what Thulium fiber lasers can achieve,” said Karlheinz Gulden, Senior Vice President, Laser Components and Subsystems at Coherent. “Our new 793nm chip enables laser systems to be more powerful, efficient, and cost-effective, which will have a profound impact on the growing Thulium fiber laser market.”
