Cologix Secures 14MW Capacity in Toronto

Cologix has expanded its footprint in Toronto by acquiring full ownership of its TOR4 data center from CIM Group and purchasing TOR5, a facility located on 105 Clegg Road in Markham. The moves deepen Cologix’s commitment to the Canadian market and strengthen Toronto’s position as a hub for hyperscale, enterprise, and AI inference workloads.

TOR4 and TOR5 collectively add 14MW of capacity and more than 90,000 square feet of space to Cologix’s portfolio, which now includes 22 data centers across Toronto, Montréal, and Vancouver. These facilities offer direct public cloud onramps, ultra-low latency connectivity, and expansion capacity for hyperscalers, service providers, and enterprises.

The transactions also highlight Cologix’s joint venture model with institutional investors like CIM Group, where initial development partnerships evolve into long-term ownership. Beyond Toronto, Cologix operates 45+ data centers across 12 North American markets, providing more than 1 million square feet and 94MW of power in Canada alone.

• Acquired CIM Group’s partnership interests in TOR4, securing full ownership

• Concurrent purchase of TOR5 (105 Clegg Road) in Markham, Ontario

• Combined 14MW capacity and over 90,000 sq. ft. dedicated to hyperscale and AI inference workloads

• Cologix Canadian footprint: 22 data centers, 1,057,000 sq. ft., 94MW, 350 networks, 200+ cloud providers, 15 public cloud onramps

• Public cloud connectivity includes AWS, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle

“Our joint venture with CIM Group has been instrumental in accelerating our growth in Toronto—one of North America’s most critical digital edge markets,” said Laura Ortman, CEO of Cologix. “With full ownership of TOR4 and the addition of TOR5, we are deepening our investment in Canada and delivering more control, scale and performance for hyperscalers, enterprises and service providers, advancing Toronto’s role as a hub for AI inference ecosystems.”

🌐 Analysis: Toronto is emerging as a critical node in North America’s digital economy, with hyperscalers and AI workloads driving demand for scalable, interconnected data center capacity. Cologix’s strategy of building with institutional partners and consolidating later mirrors trends seen across the sector, as companies seek both upfront capital efficiency and long-term operational control. Rival operators in Canada, including Equinix and STACK Infrastructure, have also expanded capacity in Toronto to support AI-driven growth.
