CoreSite, an American Tower company (NYSE: AMT), marked a major milestone with the topping off of its new DE3 data center at 4900 Race Street in Denver. The 180,000-square-foot facility will expand CoreSite’s metro footprint to support growing demand for high-density, high-performance computing tied to AI and cloud applications. DE3 is the first purpose-built colocation data center constructed in Denver in two decades and will connect via dark fiber to CoreSite’s existing DE1 and DE2 sites downtown.

Once operational in 2026, DE3 will bring CoreSite’s Denver campus to roughly 600,000 square feet and 60 MW of critical power capacity. CoreSite emphasized the project’s community impact, announcing investments in the nearby Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods, including a STEM room renovation at the Jack A. Vickers Boys and Girls Club.

The expansion underscores CoreSite’s commitment to Denver, where the company is headquartered, and to the growing role of the region as a hub for AI and digital infrastructure innovation. The company also reaffirmed its focus on sustainable design and community development through partnerships with American Tower, Schneider Electric, and DPR Construction.

• DE3 will add 180,000 sq. ft. of purpose-built capacity and 20 MW of power upon completion

• Linked by high-count dark fiber to DE1 and DE2 downtown

• Full Denver campus expansion to reach ~600,000 sq. ft. and 60 MW total capacity

• Community investment includes a $25,000 pledge and new digital resources for local youth programs

• Availability targeted for 2026

“At CoreSite, we are committed to supporting the cities and communities where we operate. Our nearly 190 Denver-based employees are beyond excited to further invest in their hometown,” said Adam Post, SVP of Corporate Development and Finance at CoreSite. “On a citywide scale, DE3 will provide customers with the interconnection and improved computing performance needed to thrive, strengthening Denver’s reputation as a tech hub and driving economic growth.”

🌐 Analysis: CoreSite’s DE3 project joins a series of expansion efforts across key U.S. markets, including new builds and capacity upgrades in Silicon Valley (SV9 in Santa Clara), Los Angeles (LA3 expansion), Northern Virginia (VA3 and VA4 in Reston), and Chicago (CH2 expansion). Each site targets high-density, low-latency interconnection to support hyperscale and enterprise AI workloads, aligning with parent company American Tower’s broader strategy to extend from wireless infrastructure into digital edge and AI colocation ecosystems. As demand accelerates for regional AI hubs, CoreSite’s Denver expansion highlights the trend toward geographically distributed, interconnected AI data centers.
