Credo unveils low-power Lark DSPs for 800G optical interconnects

Credo Technology announced the Lark family of ultra-low power optical DSPs, targeting 800G transceivers in AI-driven data centers and hyperscale cloud networks. Introduced at OFC 2025, the new Lark 800 and Lark 850 DSPs offer a flexible and power-optimized solution for full retimed transceivers and Linear Receive Optics (LRO). With power consumption under 10W and integrated Ethernet health monitoring, the Lark DSPs set a new standard in energy-efficient high-speed connectivity.

The Lark 800 supports fully retimed 800G optical transceivers and is designed to operate within the tight thermal and power envelopes of dense AI clusters. The Lark 850 is optimized for 800G LRO modules, offering high reliability while minimizing power usage—critical for scaling optical interconnects in environments where energy budgets are tight. Built on Credo’s fifth-generation DSP architecture, both products deliver robust signal correction, programmable power-saving modes, and support for multimode and single-mode optics.

With more than 14 million 800GbE modules forecasted for deployment in 2025, minimizing optical interconnect power consumption has become a top priority for hyperscalers. By offering a versatile DSP platform across both retimed and linear optics, Credo positions the Lark family as a vital building block for future AI and ML clusters, helping reduce total infrastructure costs without compromising performance.

The Lark DSP family is available for order now.

• Lark 800: DSP for fully retimed 800G optical transceivers, optimized for dense AI data centers

• Lark 850: Ultra-low-power DSP (<10W) for 800G LRO applications

• Fifth-generation DSP architecture with enhanced signal correction and diagnostics

• Programmable power-saving modes for energy efficiency

• Supports both multimode and single-mode fiber systems

• Available now for customer sampling and orders

“The Lark family of optical DSPs sets a new bar for energy efficiency in optical interconnects,” said Chris Collins, VP of Optical Sales and Product Marketing at Credo.
