DC BLOX’s New Data Centers Promise 160MW Capacity in Southeast

DC BLOX has announced the development of four hyperscale edge node data centers across the Southeastern U.S., targeting Montgomery, Alabama; North Augusta, South Carolina; Huntsville, Alabama; and Conyers, Georgia. The Conyers site, already publicized, will anchor this expansion, with each site strategically positioned to address the growing demand for edge data services and digital infrastructure in the region. Combined, these data centers offer an initial capacity of 25MW for hyperscale tenants, with the potential to scale to 160MW.

The Montgomery facility will open with 5MW for a hyperscale tenant, expanding to 40MW over time. North Augusta and Huntsville will each support 5MW initially, focused on hyperscale clients. The Atlanta East campus in Conyers will deliver 10MW initially and can grow to 120MW, complemented by a new dark fiber ring to enhance metro Atlanta’s connectivity and integrate with DC BLOX’s broader regional fiber network. These developments are part of DC BLOX’s strategy to offer scalable Tier III data centers, hyperscale facilities, and robust connectivity solutions across the Southeast.

Local leaders have expressed strong support for these initiatives, citing their economic impact and alignment with regional growth strategies. Jeff Uphues, CEO of DC BLOX, stated, “With each new site, we are building critical digital infrastructure that enables hyperscale companies to operate at the edge while benefiting from the Southeast’s favorable economics and rapid growth.”

• Key Points:

• Four locations: Montgomery, AL; North Augusta, SC; Huntsville, AL; and Conyers, GA.

• Initial capacity: 25MW dedicated to hyperscale tenants, with total scalability up to 160MW.

• Montgomery site: Initial 5MW, expandable to 40MW.

• North Augusta and Huntsville sites: Each starts with 5MW for hyperscale clients.

• Conyers (Atlanta East campus): Initial 10MW with a 120MW expansion capacity.

• Includes a dark fiber ring around metro Atlanta connecting to DC BLOX’s regional fiber backbone.
