Dell’Oro: Record Sales for Front-end Data Center Networks

Data Center Switch sales in front-end networks grew by strong double digits in 2Q 2025, reaching a record high, according to a new report from Dell’Oro Group. Arista, Cisco, Huawei, and Ruijie captured the majority of the spending increase, with Arista sustaining its leadership position.

“Over the past year, concerns have grown in the market over spending levels in data center front-end networks, as most focus and budgets appeared to shift toward supporting AI back-end infrastructure,” said Sameh Boujelbene, Vice President at Dell’Oro Group. “However, consistent with our projections, spending on front-end networks remained strong to support growing capacity needs in AI clusters. In addition, demand for public cloud services rose during this period of uncertainty,” added Boujelbene.

Additional highlights from the 2Q 2025 Data Center Switch – Front-end Networks Report:

  • Arista continues to lead in Front-end Networks and the overall Data Center Switch market.
  • Front-end networks continue to drive well in excess of two thirds of overall Ethernet data center switch sales.
  • 100/200/400 Gbps comprised more than two thirds of the data center switch sales in front-end networks, while most 800 Gbps shipments are still destined predominantly for back-end networks.
