Deutsche Telekom has reaffirmed its confidence in Tim Höttges by extending his tenure as CEO until the end of 2028. Höttges, who has led the company since 2014, has been pivotal in transforming Deutsche Telekom into a global telecommunications powerhouse. The decision, announced by the Supervisory Board, emphasizes continuity at the helm of the company while incorporating fresh leadership to drive innovation and growth. Alongside this, two key management appointments were unveiled: Srini Gopalan will become Chief Operating Officer (COO) of T-Mobile US, and Rodrigo Diehl will take over as Head of Deutsche Telekom Germany starting March 1, 2025.
Under Höttges’ leadership, Deutsche Telekom has achieved remarkable milestones, including the merger of T-Mobile and Sprint in the U.S., significant investments in fiber-optic and 5G networks, and a robust commitment to climate neutrality by 2040. “I am pleased to continue my work at Deutsche Telekom. The realignment will help us achieve our ambitious goals by leveraging global economies of scale and delivering top performance,” said Höttges. Srini Gopalan, currently overseeing Deutsche Telekom’s German business, will bring his expertise in digital transformation and market expansion to his new role at T-Mobile US, further strengthening the ties between the two companies.
Rodrigo Diehl, the incoming Head of Deutsche Telekom Germany, has been praised for his leadership as CEO of Magenta Telekom in Austria and his contributions to Deutsche Telekom’s European business. With over 20 years of experience in telecommunications and technology, Diehl is expected to drive customer-centric growth and innovation in the company’s largest market. “I am honored to take on this role and look forward to building on the strong legacy established by Srini,” Diehl remarked. These leadership adjustments reflect Deutsche Telekom’s strategic focus on balancing stability with new energy to sustain its market leadership and innovation momentum.
