At ECOC24 in Frankfurt, Lumentum is showcasing its newly optimized 800G ZR+ coherent pluggable transceivers, which are designed for extended reach and high-capacity data center interconnects. These transceivers leverage hybrid photonic integrated circuits and proprietary indium phosphide technology. Live demonstrations of both 800G ZR+ and 400G ZR+ transceivers will be held at ECOC, emphasizing their ability to handle rapidly growing data traffic in metro, regional, and long-haul networks.
Lumentum will also demonstrate its Tunable SFP28 ER modules, which support 25 Gbps DWDM links over distances up to 40 km. These transceivers are aimed at cable MSO, DOCSIS 4.0, FTTH deployments, and 5G transport networks. Designed for industrial temperature ranges, these modules provide a robust solution for operators seeking to maximize performance over existing C-band fiber infrastructure. Additionally, Lumentum will participate in the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) interoperability demos, where its 800ZR and 400ZR+ coherent transceivers will demonstrate multi-vendor DSP interoperability over multi-span networks, highlighting their flexibility and performance in diverse high-capacity environments.

At ECOC, the company’s Chief Technology Officer, Matt Sysak, will present on how its optical technologies can reduce network power consumption by up to 80%, offering significant energy savings for large-scale AI deployments. This discussion will explore how innovations in energy-efficient optics are critical for the sustainable scaling of AI networks. Lumentum will also participate in a workshop on multi-band systems, exploring how emerging technologies can manage growing traffic demands in next-generation networks.
