Molex introduced new VaporConnect Optical Feedthrough Modules for immersion cooling in high-performance data centers.
VaporConnect uses a cassette-based design that bolts directly onto immersion tanks. This solution allows optical transceivers and network cabling to be replaced without altering the mechanical interfaces or immersion tank architecture, reducing both time and cost. Molex plans to make reference designs commercially available in Q1 2025.
Molex says its VaporConnect modules simplify connections between optical transceivers inside immersion tanks and external cabling infrastructure, using sealed, upgradeable modules that support multiple generations of cabling infrastructure. With the ability to mix-and-match various industry-standard optical connectors, VaporConnect supports seamless system upgrades without impacting immersion tank design. The modules are also designed to minimize external patching requirements by integrating Molex’s FlexPlane™ optical circuitry technology, which simplifies installation and ensures plug-and-play operation.
Molex has shipped over 350,000 optical channels for two-phase immersion cooling and continues to lead in optical network infrastructure innovation.
