Ericsson and Chunghwa Telecom have advanced 5G slicing automation, leveraging Ericsson’s Dynamic Network Slicing solution integrated with Chunghwa Telecom’s implementation of Singtel’s Paragon platform. This collaboration enables enterprises to access on-demand slicing capabilities, optimizing network performance per use case and supporting digital transformation initiatives.
Ericsson previously announced a partnership with Singtel in late 2024 to integrate its Paragon platform with Ericsson Service Orchestration and Assurance via API, enabling a self-service, zero-touch solution for enterprise communications services. Chunghwa Telecom is the first communication service provider (CSP) to implement this combined capability to streamline service provisioning.
Key advancements in the deployment include:
- On-Demand 5G Slicing: Enterprises can dynamically allocate network resources based on specific use case requirements.
- Automation and Scalability: Reduces complexity and encourages wider adoption of slicing technology.
- Live 5G Standalone (SA) Network: Validated through multiple enterprise use cases in 2024, with commercialization expected in 2025.
- Customizable and Scheduled Network Slices: Businesses can schedule or reserve slices for peak demand periods, ensuring assured performance.
- Enhanced Service Efficiency: Automated order processing streamlines fulfillment of enterprise performance requirements.
A key demonstration of this solution occurred at the Tainan City 400 Anniversary Metaverse Marathon in 2024, where network slicing ensured stable, high-quality live streaming for both on-site and remote audiences. This deployment will be showcased at Ericsson’s booth during Mobile World Congress 2025.
“This collaboration with Chunghwa Telecom demonstrates how Ericsson’s advanced 5G features can bring real-world, on-demand network slicing to enterprises,” said David Chou, President of Ericsson Taiwan. “With automation and on-demand slicing, we can help enterprises achieve optimized performance, higher energy efficiency, and seamless service delivery.”
