José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, 
has selected Neelie KROES to replace Viviane REDING as the head of the Digital Agenda, which includes oversight of the European Network and Information Security Agency (Enisa) and the Information Society Directorate General. Kroes previously was competition commissioner, where she handled numerous anti-trust investigations in the IT sector.
Viviane Reding is moving on to head the Commission for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, where she is expected to play a key role in rewriting EU Data Protection and Privacy laws.
