Alphabet reported a 12% year-over-year revenue increase to $96.5 billion in Q4 2024, with Google Cloud leading the charge at $12 billion, up 30% year-over-year. The results reflected a slowdown in Google’s overall revenue growth.

The cloud business saw strong growth across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), fueled by AI infrastructure and generative AI solutions, reinforcing Alphabet’s dominance in enterprise AI adoption. CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted the momentum in Google Cloud and YouTube, noting that the two businesses exited 2024 with an annual revenue run rate of $110 billion.

Alphabet’s operating income surged 31% to $31 billion, expanding operating margin to 32%, up 5 percentage pointsfrom the previous year. Net income jumped 28% to $26.5 billion, while earnings per share (EPS) climbed 31% to $2.15. Pichai credited Alphabet’s AI-first strategy and improvements in compute efficiency for the company’s strong results, particularly in Google Search, AI-powered Cloud solutions, and YouTube’s growing streaming ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Alphabet is doubling down on AI innovation, planning $75 billion in capital expenditures for 2025 to accelerate growth in cloud computing, AI models, and infrastructure. With Google Cloud now accounting for over 12% of Alphabet’s total revenue, its continued expansion will be key to Alphabet’s future growth trajectory.
