HPE Finalizes Juniper Acquisition, Launching Full-Stack AI-Native Networking

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has completed its $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks, officially merging the two companies into a unified force aimed at transforming enterprise networking in the age of AI. The deal, first announced on January 9, 2024, and approved by Juniper shareholders in April, significantly expands HPE’s networking business—doubling its size—and positions the company to deliver a comprehensive, cloud-native IT portfolio driven by secure, AI-native networking technologies. Juniper’s former CEO, Rami Rahim, now leads the combined HPE Networking division.

According to HPE CEO Antonio Neri, the acquisition arrives at a time when the network is becoming the most strategic element in enterprise IT. “Networking’s role as the connective fabric for the enterprise has never been more relevant,” said Neri. “The world today requires a strong innovator at scale.” The combined portfolio brings together a client-to-cloud stack with robust hardware, multivendor agentic AI operations, and a unified security architecture. These enhancements are designed to meet the demands of hybrid cloud and data-intensive AI applications, with HPE promising a modern network that is purpose-built with AI and for AI.

The acquisition faced antitrust scrutiny from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), which raised concerns about market consolidation in enterprise and data center networking. After months of regulatory review, HPE and Juniper reached a settlement with the DOJ in June 2025, clearing the path for closure. Juniper’s stock was delisted from the NYSE on July 2, 2025. HPE expects the acquisition to be accretive to non-GAAP EPS within the first year and to significantly enhance its operating income profile, with networking now contributing over 50% of the company’s total operating income. The integration leverages HPE’s global go-to-market scale and GreenLake platform to deliver next-generation capabilities across hybrid cloud, networking, and AI infrastructure.
