India's Broadband Wireless Spectrum Auction Takes Off

India’s Ministry of Communications & Information Technology is reporting strong bidding in its auction for broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum. This new BWA auction is offering 2 blocks of 20MHz in the 2.3GHz band across the same 22 service areas. Bidding has already topped Rs 2,300 crore (about US$ 540 million), well above the reserve price of Rs 1,750 crore.
