Sify Technologies has upgraded its National Long Distance (NLD) network, doubling its capacity from 300G to 600G by deploying Ciena’s optical technology. This upgrade spans major metro areas in India, connecting data center hubs in Mumbai, Chennai, and Noida, and creating a high-capacity infrastructure to support emerging AI workloads and other cloud-based applications. The upgrade uses Ciena’s 6500 Reconfigurable Line System and Waveserver 5 platforms, powered by WaveLogic 5 Extreme optics, to provide ultra-low latency connections and scale up bandwidth to meet the growing demands of digital enterprises.
The enhancement begins with an express path between Mumbai and New Delhi and will allow Sify to better serve enterprises and global cloud providers needing scalable, high-performance network services. In addition to the hardware, Sify is leveraging Ciena’s Navigator Network Control Suite for real-time control and optimization, while Ciena Services offers strategic consulting and maintenance for the deployment. This upgrade positions Sify to meet the increasing bandwidth demands fueled by India’s digitization efforts.
