LightPath Technologies has introduced its first industrial-grade, cooled mid-wave infrared (MWIR) optical gas imaging (OGI) camera through its G5 Infrared subsidiary. This new camera, validated at a certified testing facility, meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Subpart OOOOb Alternative Means of Emissions Limitation (AMEL) requirements for detecting methane and other regulated gas emissions from oil and gas facilities.
The cooled OGI camera complements LightPath’s previously launched uncooled long-wave infrared (LWIR) model. While the uncooled version is effective for detecting gases like methane, ammonia, and sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆), the cooled variant enhances sensitivity and precision—capable of identifying over 11 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and 25 gases. Both models are validated as compliant with EPA regulatory standards, enabling broader adoption for industrial environmental monitoring and compliance.
The announcement signals LightPath’s expansion in regulatory-grade gas detection technology, building on its established portfolio of thermal imaging systems and custom infrared optics. The company manufactures its products in the U.S., with additional facilities in Europe and Asia.
