MaxLinear and Silicon Motion spar over terminated merger

MaxLinear and Silicon Motion each issued press releases accusing the other of bad faith in their merger agreement, which MaxLinear terminated unilaterally on July 26th.

MaxLinear cited multiple grounds for its decision, including that Silicon Motion experienced a material adverse effect and multiple additional contractual failures in the 15 months since the deal was announced.

For its part, Silicon Motion categorically rejected MaxLinear’s assertions and said it will seek damages for the failed deal.
