Meta has officially brought its Kansas City Data Center online, marking a $1 billion investment in Missouri and adding a new node to the company’s global digital infrastructure. The facility, which broke ground in 2022, now supports Meta’s family of applications and services and will employ over 100 full-time personnel when fully operational.
The site was selected for its reliable infrastructure, access to renewable energy, and strong regional talent pool. Meta’s Kansas City facility is LEED Gold certified and operates on 100% renewable energy. During construction, the company deployed water conservation best practices, reusing over one million gallons of stormwater captured onsite.
Beyond the data center itself, Meta has invested more than $1 million in regional schools and nonprofits, and launched Community Accelerator programs to train local businesses in the use of AI tools, including Meta AI. The company emphasized its commitment to long-term engagement with the Kansas City community.
