MOX Networks has expanded its fiber-optic network with a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Cologix’s COL3 Scalelogix data center in Columbus, Ohio. This expansion enhances connectivity between Columbus and Ashburn, providing scalable, high-performance solutions for enterprises and service providers.

MOX’s diverse fiber path from Columbus to Ashburn ensures greater network resilience and uninterrupted service during disruptions. Additionally, businesses can bypass Ashburn to directly connect from Columbus to Atlanta or Myrtle Beach, reducing latency and improving application performance. The expansion introduces the only fiber route through West Virginia, delivering network diversity between major interconnection hubs.

The MOX deployment at COL3 incorporates Ciena’s WaveLogic 5 Extreme technology, supporting up to 400G services along MOX’s Columbus-to-Ashburn-to-New York and Columbus-to-Atlanta routes. The collaboration enhances Columbus’s role as a strategic interconnection hub, particularly for data-intensive AI applications.

  • Expanded Network Connectivity: MOX establishes a new PoP at Cologix’s COL3 data center in Columbus.
  • High-Performance Fiber Routes: Direct, low-latency connectivity between Columbus, Ashburn, Atlanta, and Myrtle Beach.
  • West Virginia Fiber Route: The only fiber path through West Virginia enhances network diversity and redundancy.
  • AI-Ready Infrastructure: Columbus is emerging as a key interconnection hub, supporting AI and cloud services.
  • Advanced Technology: Ciena’s WaveLogic 5 Extreme enables up to 400G wavelength services.

“Columbus continues to emerge as a strategic hub for interconnection to support AI applications in North America, and MOX’s expansion into COL3 reinforces its position as a critical hub for cloud and enterprise connectivity,” said Chris Heinrich, Chief Revenue Officer of Cologix.
