NEC to Supply Submarine Cable System for Indosat

Indosat, the leading international telecommunications operator in Indonesia, has selected NEC to supply a submarine cable system linking Indonesia and Singapore. The “JAKABARE” (Java – Kalimantan – Batam – Singapore) Submarine Backbone Network will stretch over 1,300km and connect Jakarta (Java), Pontianak (Kalimantan), Batam Island and Changi (Singapore) using NEC’s state-of-the-art optical fiber transmission system based on 10 Gbps x 64 wavelengths DWDM. Initial capacity will be 160 Gbps and completion is slated for June 2009.http://www.nec.com
