Nevis Networks, a start-up based in Santa Clara, California, completed a $12.5 million follow-on round of Series B financing for its LAN security systems. The company said network security has traditionally safeguarded the network perimeter from external threats. It believes enterprises must apply that same level of security for users inside the network. Its vision is a “Personal DMZ for Every User on
Every Port.” Product plans have not yet been disclosed.
Nevis also named Charles Dauber as its president and CEO, replacing former CEO Suresh Nihilani. Dauber previously held roles of vice president of marketing, vice president of security products and vice president of corporate development at Blue Coat Systems (formerly CacheFlow). Prior to Blue Coat, Dauber was CEO of a broadband services provider, and held marketing and sales positions at Copper Mountain Networks and Teradyne, Inc.
New investor New Enterprise Associates (NEA) joined existing investors BlueRun Ventures and New Path Ventures in the funding round, which raised the total investment in Nevis to $32.5 million. Nevis will use these funds to bring its products to market and expand its sales and marketing workforce.
