Nokia and NL-ix Launch Europe’s Largest IXP-Based Anti-DDoS Protection

Nokia and NL-ix have announced the deployment of Nokia’s Deepfield Defender across NL-ix’s network, creating the largest anti-DDoS solution implemented at an Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Europe. This advanced protection system, powered by AI-driven analytics, is designed to detect and mitigate Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks in seconds, ensuring minimal disruption for enterprises and other users. The system will operate directly on Nokia’s FP5-based routers, which are being deployed across NL-ix’s European network, eliminating the need for remote scrubbing centers and reducing latency and transport costs.

By leveraging Nokia Deepfield’s AI and machine learning capabilities, NL-ix can offer a secure, low-latency network that will help European enterprises maintain uptime and fend off increasingly sophisticated DDoS attacks. This solution marks a significant milestone in the evolution of security for IXPs and offers a model for other large-scale deployments. Nokia’s patented Secure Genome® technology, with visibility into over 5 billion IP addresses, adds an additional layer of threat detection and mitigation.
