Nokia, Datwyler IT Infra, Intel, and Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne (SIPBB) launched a new industrial innovation hub in Switzerland to accelerate private 5G and AI-powered edge applications. The facility provides startups and nonprofits with access to enterprise-grade infrastructure to test real-world use cases in energy, mobility, health, and manufacturing without upfront costs.

The testbed features Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) private wireless networks, its MX Industrial Edge (MXIE) platform, and OT-compliant Gen AI assistants for connected workers. Intel contributes Xeon Scalable processors for edge AI inferencing, enabling predictive analytics, visual positioning, and object detection. Datwyler IT Infra adds secure and scalable infrastructure expertise to ensure industrial-grade performance. The hub’s goal is to validate solutions ranging from predictive maintenance and worker safety to energy-efficient automation and conversational AI-driven machine interfaces.

SIPBB will serve as the focal point for researchers, startups, and industrial partners to co-develop digitalization projects. By removing infrastructure and deployment barriers, the initiative aims to attract global investment and position Switzerland as a leader in next-generation industrial networks.

• Full-scale testbed at SIPBB enables startups and nonprofits to experiment with private 5G and AI at no cost

• Nokia provides DAC private wireless, MXIE edge, and MX Workmate Gen AI assistant

• Intel Xeon CPUs support AI inference at the enterprise edge, lowering TCO

• Datwyler IT Infra delivers secure, scalable edge and data center architectures

• Use cases include predictive maintenance, video collaboration, safety monitoring, and energy-efficient automation

“At Nokia, we believe technology should empower industries to increase efficiency, safety and sustainability,” said Michael Aspinall, Head of Enterprise Campus Edge sales in Europe at Nokia.
