Nokia has been selected by Claro Argentina to deploy 5G infrastructure across the country, marking a significant step in Argentina’s digital transformation. The agreement covers the first phase of 5G implementation, targeting Argentina’s largest cities, with Nokia serving as the sole supplier. This partnership aligns with Claro’s strategy to provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity for both consumers and enterprises, supporting various sectors including manufacturing and oil and gas.
Nokia will deploy its AirScale 5G portfolio, powered by ReefShark System-on-Chip technology, to deliver superior 5G capacity and coverage. The deployment will include base stations, baseband units, and Massive MIMO radios, alongside services such as planning, deployment, and network optimization. Claro will also be the first in Latin America to implement Nokia’s Interleaved Passive Active Antenna (IPAA+), designed to streamline 5G deployments by efficiently utilizing existing space on towers and rooftops.
• Nokia’s Role: Sole supplier for Claro Argentina’s 5G network, deploying equipment from its AirScale portfolio.
• Technology Used: ReefShark SoC, Massive MIMO radios, IPAA+ antennas.
• Deployment Scope: Targets Argentina’s largest cities; first phase of nationwide 5G rollout.
• Vertical Sectors Impacted: Manufacturing, oil and gas, among others.
• Claro’s Innovation: First in Latin America to use Nokia’s IPAA+ for efficient 5G deployment.
“Claro Argentina has big plans for transforming Argentinian society through the deployment of 5G networks, and we are proud to support it as its strategic partner,” said Tommi Uitto, President of Mobile Networks at Nokia. “
