Nokia Unveils 5G Banshee Flex Radio for Battlefield Comm

Nokia has introduced the 5G Banshee Flex Radio, a mobile broadband edge solution designed for modern battlefield operations. The device, part of Nokia’s Tactical Solutions portfolio, combines secure, private 5G and LTE capabilities in a highly scalable system. It supports agile, resilient communications and integrates seamlessly with existing networks to enhance operational effectiveness in demanding environments.

The 5G Banshee Flex Radio provides flexible band operation, advanced edge computing, and mesh networking, ensuring dependable communication for military teams. Its compact design serves as a “network in a box,” offering rapid deployment and strong security features. The technology enables defense agencies to adapt to fast-changing battlefield conditions while maintaining secure, high-performance communication systems.

Giuseppe Targia, head of Microwave & Space and Defense at Nokia, commented, “The Nokia Banshee Flex Radio is a breakthrough in tactical communication solutions, providing defense agencies with secure, resilient, and flexible networks essential in today’s fast-evolving battlefield.” Dave Peterson, CEO of Fenix Group, Inc., highlighted the radio’s versatility, calling it “an essential tool for maintaining reliable communication in challenging environments.”
