The City of Brownsville, Texas, has selected NTT DATA to deploy smart city solutions powered by a Private 5G (P5G) network. This collaboration aims to enhance public services, safety, sustainability, and manage growth more effectively through real-time data analytics and AI. The initial deployment will focus on the downtown core, including key public areas and facilities, to establish a connected city infrastructure. This initiative reflects Brownsville’s ambition to become a leading technology hub, leveraging advanced digital capabilities to improve the quality of life for residents and support economic development.

NTT DATA’s solutions will integrate thousands of data-collection devices, utilizing AI and machine learning to provide actionable insights for city officials. The deployment of a P5G network will ensure seamless connectivity, supporting high-bandwidth use cases across the city. This move is expected to reduce costs related to traditional wireless carriers and allow for scalability as the city grows. The first phase of the project will include smart infrastructure, enhanced safety measures, and the creation of a connected city framework, setting the foundation for further technological advancements in Brownsville.

• Brownsville partners with NTT DATA to build a smart city using Private 5G.

• Initial focus areas include downtown core, public parks, and the airport.

• The project aims to enhance public safety, sustainability, and service delivery.

• NTT DATA’s solutions will leverage real-time data, AI, and machine learning.

• The private network will reduce costs and support future city growth.

“Brownsville’s leaders have demonstrated a remarkable vision for using data-driven insights to improve the citizen experience and lay the foundation for a sustainable future,” said Eric Clark, CEO of NTT DATA North America.
