OCP Adds AMD, ARM, NVIDIA to Board

The Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP) announced the addition of AMD, Arm, and NVIDIA to its Board of Directors, marking a significant expansion of leadership as the organization positions itself at the center of AI data center innovation. The new members join existing board representatives from Google, Intel, Meta, Microsoft, and Andy Bechtolsheim, strengthening OCP’s alignment between hyperscalers and semiconductor technology leaders.

Each of the three companies has served on OCP’s Advisory Board since its inception two years ago. AMD is represented by Robert Hormuth, Corporate Vice President of Architecture and Strategy in the Data Center Solutions Group; Arm by Mohamed Awad, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Infrastructure Business; and NVIDIA by Robert Ober, Chief Platform Architect for Datacenter Products. Together, these leaders bring deep expertise in processor architecture, data center systems, and silicon strategy—areas essential to the next phase of open infrastructure development.

OCP CEO George Tchaparian said the expansion reflects the industry’s “inflection point between hyperscalers and semiconductors,” underscoring the need for collaboration to advance AI infrastructure. OCP Chairman David Ramku noted that broadening the leadership circle will accelerate progress toward open, AI-ready data center designs. The organization also announced plans to fill the now-vacant Advisory Board seats through open solicitation among its 500+ corporate members.

• AMD, Arm, and NVIDIA join OCP’s Board of Directors alongside Google, Intel, Meta, Microsoft, and Andy Bechtolsheim

• New appointees: Robert Hormuth (AMD), Mohamed Awad (Arm), and Robert Ober (NVIDIA)

• OCP aims to strengthen coordination between hyperscalers, chipmakers, and infrastructure developers

• Advisory Board vacancies to be filled through open solicitation among OCP’s corporate members

“With the unprecedented growth of the AI data center, the industry is at an inflection point,” said George Tchaparian, CEO of OCP. “Expanding our Board to include AMD, Arm, and NVIDIA ensures OCP continues to lead and collaboratively serve our community and the broader ecosystem.”
