OIF is hosting an industry workshop on April 15-16, 2025, in Silicon Valley to address the challenges of advancing to 448Gbps signaling for AI and machine learning (ML) interconnects. As demand for higher data rates grows, the industry is finalizing 224Gbps signaling while preparing for the transition to 400G/lane technologies. The workshop, titled “Addressing the Next Rate Challenges: 448Gbps Signaling for AI,” will bring together key stakeholders, including hyperscalers, system vendors, semiconductor companies, and interconnect suppliers, to discuss innovations in electrical and optical connectivity.

Co-sponsored by the Ethernet Alliance, Open Compute Project, SNIA, Ultra Ethernet Consortium, and UALink Consortium, the event will cover critical topics such as modulation techniques, signal integrity, power efficiency, and test and measurement advancements. Featured keynote speakers include AI networking experts from Microsoft, Google Cloud, Meta, and OpenAI, alongside leading industry analysts from Omdia, 650 Group, and Cignal AI. OIF aims to foster collaboration on technology gaps and standardization efforts to ensure scalable, high-performance interconnects for next-generation AI workloads.

The workshop will provide a forum for industry leaders to align technical roadmaps and explore solutions for the challenges of 448Gbps signaling. OIF has solicited proposals to incorporate diverse expertise and perspectives, ensuring a comprehensive discussion on the future of AI-driven network architectures.
