Ooredoo and DE-CIX have launched Doha IX, Qatar’s first standalone commercial Internet Exchange (IX). This partnership enhances the country’s digital infrastructure by providing a secure, carrier-neutral interconnection platform designed to improve network performance, reduce costs, and support remote peering services.
Built on DE-CIX’s interconnection technology and Ooredoo’s advanced data centers, Doha IX enables businesses and network operators to exchange traffic with lower latency and more efficient routing. The exchange offers direct, cost-effective access to global and regional content providers, significantly reducing traditional IP transit expenses. The initiative aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 by fostering innovation and positioning the country as a key player in regional digital connectivity.
Doha IX will operate under DE-CIX’s “DE-CIX as a Service” (DaaS) model and marks DE-CIX’s sixth IX in the Middle East. The platform supports international networks looking to expand into the region while enhancing the overall performance and reliability of Internet services in Qatar.
