Oracle plans to invest over US$6.5 billion to establish a new public cloud region in Malaysia, aiming to meet the rising demand for AI and cloud services in the country. The move will expand Oracle’s presence in Asia Pacific to 12 public cloud regions, further solidifying its role in driving digital transformation in Malaysia.
The Malaysian cloud region will offer a wide range of Oracle services, including over 150 infrastructure and SaaS solutions such as Oracle Autonomous Database, OCI Generative AI Agents, and the Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite. Customers will also have access to advanced AI capabilities, including OCI Supercluster with NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking, providing the necessary computational power for AI model training and deployment. This investment aligns with Malaysia’s vision to enhance global competitiveness, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as part of the country’s New Industrial Master Plan, which aims to create 3,000 smart factories by 2030.
The collaboration was welcomed by Malaysian officials, with MITI Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz highlighting the importance of Oracle’s investment in supporting the country’s digital economy. Garrett Ilg, Oracle’s EVP for Japan & Asia Pacific, noted the strategic importance of Malaysia as a regional gateway for cloud infrastructure and digital growth.
