Orange Taps 6WIND Virtual Routers for Cloud Services

Orange and 6WIND have announced a strengthened collaboration to deliver virtualized, secure cloud connectivity services to enterprise and wholesale customers worldwide. As part of its ongoing network transformation, Orange has selected 6WIND’s Virtual Service Router (VSR) suite—including the Virtual Security Gateway (vSecGW) and Virtual Firewall (vFW)—to replace legacy hardware and enable a fully software-defined, energy-efficient architecture. These services will run within Orange’s Telco Cloud Points of Presence (SDN PoPs), located within 10 milliseconds of major global cloud providers.

This deployment supports Orange’s New Generation International Network initiative, launched in 2022, which aims to disaggregate network functions and deliver programmable, cloud-native infrastructure. With 6WIND’s VSR suite, Orange gains flexible licensing, support for multi-tenant environments, and tools for high-performance, automated operations. The solution reduces capital and operational expenditures while enhancing agility, service velocity, and environmental sustainability. Orange customers benefit from improved cloud access, stronger security, and rapid deployment of value-added services.

The partnership underscores both companies’ vision for a future-ready telco architecture—one that replaces static, hardware-based infrastructure with virtualized, automated services designed for the evolving demands of global digital transformation.

  • Orange expands use of 6WIND VSR suite (vSecGW and vFW) to deliver secure cloud connectivity
  • Services deployed at Orange SDN PoPs within 10ms of major cloud providers globally
  • Supports Orange’s transition to software-defined, disaggregated networking infrastructure
  • VSR suite enables CapEx, OpEx, and energy efficiency improvements from day one
  • Enables agile, scalable, and programmable network services for enterprise and wholesale markets

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with 6WIND to bring Cloud Connectivity to our customers… This collaboration underscores our commitment to enhancing our sovereignty in technology and is a crucial step in our Network softwarization journey,” said Jean-Louis Le Roux, EVP International Networks, Orange.
