OREX SAI, a joint venture between NTT DOCOMO and NEC, is accelerating the global adoption of Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) technology through a series of strategic partnerships.  In collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), OREX SAI aims to achieve zero-touch lifecycle automation in multi-vendor Open RAN environments. This partnership focuses on automating hardware and software management, reducing deployment costs by 60% through zero-touch provisioning, and enhancing network performance using AI and machine learning for anomaly detection and forecasting.

Expanding its reach in Southeast Asia, OREX SAI has partnered with Globe Telecom in the Philippines to conduct a demonstration experiment for Open RAN. This initiative, supported by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, allows Globe to assess the feasibility and performance of Open RAN solutions within its existing network infrastructure. The collaboration aims to provide Globe with valuable insights into integrating Open RAN technology into its future network developments, aligning with the global trend towards more flexible and cost-efficient network environments.

In Singapore, OREX SAI has entered into a strategic partnership with StarHub to deploy commercial Open RAN solutions for both private enterprise networks and consumer 4G/5G macro networks. Building on a successful 5G Open RAN lab trial in August 2024, the collaboration seeks to integrate StarHub’s Cloud Infinity platform with OREX SAI’s Open RAN technology. Objectives include developing commercial-ready private 5G networks, implementing Open RAN in consumer networks, ensuring seamless operational integration, and exploring innovative use cases such as data monetization.

• Partnership with HPE: Aims to achieve zero-touch lifecycle automation in multi-vendor Open RAN environments, reducing deployment costs by 60%.

• Collaboration with Globe Telecom: Conducting a demonstration experiment in the Philippines to assess the feasibility of Open RAN solutions within existing network infrastructure.

• Strategic Alliance with StarHub: Deploying commercial Open RAN solutions in Singapore for private enterprise and consumer 4G/5G networks, integrating with StarHub’s Cloud Infinity platform.

• Global Expansion: Leveraging NEC’s global presence and DOCOMO’s Open RAN expertise to accelerate the adoption of Open RAN solutions worldwide.

  • Established as a joint venture between NTT DOCOMO and NEC, OREX SAI focuses on providing Open RAN solutions globally. The company sources products and services from members of OREX PARTNERS in each market and performs system verifications to deliver mobile networks tailored to the needs of overseas telecommunications operators. Leveraging NEC’s global infrastructure and DOCOMO’s Open RAN expertise, OREX SAI aims to accelerate the worldwide adoption of high-quality, cost-effective, and energy-efficient Open RAN solutions.
