Wateen Telecom has accelerated its rollout of WiMAX services and is on its way to doubling its existing customer premises equipment (CPE) volume from 100,000 to 200,000 by year end.
Motorola announced a new agreement with Wateen, under which it remains the carrier’s exclusive WiMAX CPE and infrastructure supplier, delivering reliable, easy-to-install, high performance devices to the Pakistani operator for nationwide distribution.
As part of its latest CPE order, Wateen has chosen Motorola’s WiMAX USBw 100, which will be made available to consumers and businesses for the first time in Pakistan, and the outdoor WiMAX CPEo 450, as well as the newly introduced WiMAX CPEi 775 and CPEi 750 for indoor use within a home or office environment. Wateen’s services currently cover 22 cities in Pakistan, and the company recently reached a milestone of 100,000 subscribers.
