POET Technologies has released its 2025 Outlook, highlighting its efforts to scale AI infrastructure hardware and meet the rising demand for high-speed optical transceivers. The company is advancing its POET Optical Interposer platform, which integrates optical engines and light sources to enable 800Gbps, 1.6Tbps, and 3.2Tbps transceivers. With AI-driven data centers facing severe capacity constraints, demand for optical transceivers is projected to grow at 56.5% annually, reaching 31.9 million units of 400Gbps or greater speeds in 2025, according to TrendForce. POET is positioning itself as a key supplier, with major customers Foxconn Interconnect Technologies (FOIT) and Luxshare Tech already developing solutions using its optical engines.
To scale production, POET has strengthened its balance sheet with $110 million in funding and expanded manufacturing capacity by acquiring Super Photonics Xiamen (SPX) while establishing a wafer-scale assembly and test operation in Malaysia through Globetronics. The company is also collaborating with Mitsubishi Electric to integrate 400G Electro-absorption Modulated Lasers (EMLs) into 1.6Tbps optical engine chipsets, achieving advanced chip-scale integration. POET will showcase its latest innovations, including a production-ready 1.6Tbps transmit optical engine, at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference (OFC) in San Francisco in March 2025. With continued commercialization efforts, POET expects additional design wins and market expansion throughout the year.
