Proxim and Intersil have agreed to dismiss all patent-related claims against each other, including lawsuits before the International Trade Commission and Delaware and Massachusetts Federal Courts. As part of the confidential settlement agreement, the two companies have entered into a patent cross-license agreement for their respective patent portfolios and Intersil will make a one-time payment of $6 million to Proxim. Proxim said it intends to continue to pursue licensing agreements related to its wireless LAN patents and to vigorously defend its intellectual property rights.

In March 2001, Proxim initiated legal actions in federal district courts against six companies that sell direct sequence WLAN products and services based upon the IEEE 802.11b standard. The six companies named at the time were 3Com, Cisco, Intersil, SMC, Symbol and Wayport.
