Quantum Computing Inc. Secures Key Orders Ahead of Foundry Launch

Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi) has secured its third and fourth purchase orders for thin film lithium niobate (TFLN) photonic chips, marking the completion of its 2024 Foundry Pilot Launch Program. The orders come from a European technical university and a Canadian photonic integrated circuit (PIC) design company. The university aims to utilize QCi’s expertise in periodically poled lithium niobate structures for advanced telecommunications applications, while the Canadian company represents QCi’s first non-research commercial customer, with delivery expected in Q2 2025.

Dr. Pouya Dianat, Director of PICs and Foundry Services at QCi, stated, “The QCi Foundry Pilot Launch Program has generated customer engagement from both research and commercial sectors, establishing a pipeline of future opportunities for these foundry services.” QCi plans to officially launch its full foundry services in Q1 2025, with the Tempe, Arizona facility dedicated to manufacturing high-performance photonic chips. The company also completed partial delivery of its first foundry customer’s order in December 2024, shipping TFLN PIC chips with passive elements to an Asian customer.

In 2024, QCi achieved several milestones, including the first sale of its Reservoir Computer and Quantum Random Number Generator, and a contract award from NASA to support phase unwrapping using the Dirac-3 photonic optimization solver. The company also reported significant financial developments, with third-quarter 2024 revenues totaling approximately $27,000, reflecting a 42% gross margin.

Key Points:

Foundry Orders: Secured third and fourth TFLN photonic chip orders, completing the 2024 Pilot Launch Program.

Customer Engagement: Orders from a European university and a Canadian PIC design company, indicating both research and commercial interest.

Full Launch: Full foundry services set to launch in Q1 2025 at the Tempe, Arizona facility.

2024 Milestones: Achieved first sales of Reservoir Computer and Quantum Random Number Generator; awarded NASA contract for Dirac-3 solver.

Financials: Reported approximately $27,000 in Q3 2024 revenues with a 42% gross margin.

“We are excited to leverage these engagements as QCi officially launches its full foundry services in Q1 2025, and we are confident that this will be a pivotal year for the Company’s growth,” added Dr. Dianat.
