Samsung and NVIDIA Demo AI-Powered vRAN Integration

Samsung and NVIDIA are collaborating to advance AI-powered Radio Access Networks (AI-RAN), integrating NVIDIA’s accelerated computing with Samsung’s Open RAN-compliant virtualized RAN (vRAN). This partnership aims to drive the adoption of AI in mobile networks by leveraging both CPU and GPU computing platforms. Samsung has successfully demonstrated the interoperability of its vRAN with NVIDIA’s AI platform in a proof-of-concept at Samsung Research’s lab, showcasing how AI can enhance network performance and efficiency.

At MWC 2025, Samsung showcased two AI-RAN demonstrations in collaboration with the AI-RAN Alliance and NVIDIA, highlighting AI-based uplink estimation and non-uniform modulation techniques. The company plans to integrate its vRAN software with NVIDIA’s Grace CPU and CUDA-enabled GPU technology on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) servers, ensuring flexible AI deployment across diverse network environments, from rural to dense urban areas. Samsung’s software-driven network architecture is designed to transform mobile infrastructure into AI-native, data center-like environments, unlocking new business opportunities beyond mobile communications.

As a founding member and elected Vice Chair of the AI-RAN Alliance, Samsung is driving industry-wide AI adoption in wireless networks. The company’s ongoing innovation in vRAN, Open RAN, and AI-powered automation tools aims to help operators enhance network performance and future-proof their infrastructure. This collaboration with NVIDIA strengthens Samsung’s position at the forefront of AI-driven network evolution.
