Schiphol Airport has launched a private 5G network, partnering with Ericsson to support its digital transformation and future-proof its operations. The private network, which uses a dedicated spectrum granted by Dutch regulators, gives Schiphol full control over its communications infrastructure. This setup enhances network performance, reliability, and security, while reducing the airport’s reliance on public networks. The deployment aims to enable advanced solutions tailored for the airport, such as IoT-based monitoring, real-time safety systems, and predictive maintenance.

Ericsson’s Private 5G network will help Schiphol meet the growing demand for high-speed, low-latency connectivity. The companies are exploring innovative use cases to boost airport safety, security, and customer experience. With the network’s flexibility, Schiphol can deploy digital services critical to its operations and support its Airport 4.0 ambitions. This initiative highlights Schiphol’s commitment to leading in next-gen airport infrastructure.

• Schiphol secured its own dedicated 5G spectrum from Dutch regulators.

• The private network offers high-speed, low-latency, secure connectivity.

• Innovative use cases include IoT, real-time safety systems, and predictive maintenance.

• Reduces reliance on public or shared networks, enhancing control over infrastructure.

• Ericsson Private 5G provides a pre-integrated solution with business-critical capabilities.

“We are proud to partner with Schiphol on this pioneering project that will address the overall aging infrastructure of airports throughout the world. By leveraging Ericsson Private 5G, Schiphol is setting the stage for innovative solutions that will help them explore the full potential of 5G,” said Manish Tiwari, Head of Private Cellular Networks, Enterprise Wireless Solutions, Ericsson.
