SES has been awarded a contract by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) to deliver high-performance, secure satellite services through its medium Earth orbit (MEO) constellation. This agreement will enable NATO member governments to use SES’s satellite connectivity for global missions. The MEO Global Services (MGS) contract, valued at $200 million, spans three years with two one-year extension options. It marks the first contract under the Global Commercially Contracted Satellite Communications Support Partnership (GCC SATCOM SP) established in 2022 by the United States and Luxembourg.
The MGS contract will support missions using SES’s O3b mPOWER system, a second-generation MEO constellation designed for secure communications and enhanced government control. With extensive global ground infrastructure, the system provides flexibility and interoperability to deliver tactical communications solutions. This service will be available to NATO countries, including Luxembourg and the U.S., and is set to support a range of government and military operations.
Through the agreement, NATO countries can leverage managed service packages, O3b mPOWER terminals, and sovereign network services. The contract establishes a new framework for NATO space cooperation, providing a scalable and flexible SATCOM solution to enhance global security and government resilience.
