Software-defined Routing for Access Networks

August 25, 2023

A A

Many upgrades are occurring across fiber access networks, but are we stuck with conventional, hardware based routers, when high-performance, software-defined routers can run on commodity hardware. Weixiao Liu, CEO of NetElastic, provides insightful answers:

– Fiber technology is poised to disrupt hardware-based routers, particularly access routers, with software-defined routing solutions like vBNG and CGNAT routers.
– To keep up with the ever-changing and growing demand in servers and bandwidth at an access layer, a software solution is the most optimal way to go.
– Software-defined routers run on commodity hardware and can provide bandwidth from a couple of gig to a terabit at a very affordable cost, enabling service providers to scale their Access Network in a cost-effective manner.

Join Weixiao as he delves into the future of fiber technology and its potential to revolutionize the way we think about routing and bandwidth.
