Spirent highlighted its role in shaping China’s new GB/T 45086.1-2024 automotive positioning standard. This landmark regulation, which defines technical and testing requirements for on-board vehicle positioning systems like GNSS, is set to become a key part of the country’s Accident and Emergency Calling Systems (AECS) framework. By leveraging Spirent’s cutting-edge positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) simulation systems, developers have been empowered to meet the stringent requirements of this new standard, paving the way for safer and more reliable vehicle systems.

“Regulating PNT performance is vital for advancing safety across industries, and China’s adoption of these specifications is a big step forward,” said Adam Price, Spirent’s Vice President of PNT Simulation. The new GB/T standard promises to not only enhance automotive safety but also set a foundation for autonomous vehicle regulations. As part of the AECS framework, this standard will mandate precise and reliable positioning systems in vehicles, ensuring rapid emergency response in car accidents and potentially saving countless lives.

Highlights:

• Development Role: Spirent’s PNT simulation technology was integral to creating and validating the GB/T 45086.1-2024 standard.

• Adoption by Test Houses: Major Chinese automotive test facilities, including TATC, CAERI, and NAST, use Spirent simulators to qualify vehicle positioning capabilities.

• Global Impact: The standard’s mandate for vehicles sold in China impacts international automakers, requiring compliance for market access.

• Competitive Edge: Early adopters can leverage the standard to enhance performance, boost customer satisfaction, and gain a market advantage.
