Spirent Communications (LSE:SPT) has added industry-first benchmarking capabilities to its Landslide Test Solution, expanding its role in validating cloud-native 5G standalone (SA) infrastructure. The new Cloud-Native Infrastructure Benchmarking feature allows service providers to measure the performance and readiness of CPU, memory, storage, and networking layers before deploying cloud-native network functions (CNFs). This capability aims to help operators accelerate rollout timelines, reduce service degradation risk, and improve resiliency across distributed 5G networks.
The solution integrates benchmarking, deployment, management, and optimization functions into a single lifecycle validation platform. Spirent’s Landslide now enables workflow automation with configurable workloads, real-time visualization using Grafana and Prometheus, and end-to-end validation across Kubernetes environments such as Red Hat OpenShift, k3s, and AWS EKS. By offering both infrastructure benchmarking and CNF testing, Spirent targets the operational bottlenecks that have slowed 5G SA and 5G-Advanced adoption.
Early trials are underway with Tier 1 operators in the U.S., where benchmarking is emerging as a critical step in validating large-scale 5G deployments. The company says the solution provides a shared performance framework for infrastructure and CNF engineering teams to align efforts and prevent outages during cloud-native transitions.
• First benchmarking solution for 5G cloud-native infrastructure, covering CPU, memory, storage, and Kubernetes environments
• Integrates with Grafana and Prometheus for real-time performance visualization
• Enables workflow automation for CNF scalability and resiliency testing
• Supports Red Hat OpenShift, k3s, and AWS EKS
• Early adoption by Tier 1 operators in the U.S.
“Cloud-native complexity has slowed down the pace of 5G SA adoption because operators need confidence that their infrastructure can reliably support CNF workloads,” said Anil Kollipara, VP of Automated Test & Assurance Product Management at Spirent. “With this latest Landslide release, Spirent is delivering the most complete lifecycle solution that benchmarks, validates, and optimizes cloud-native infrastructures.”
🌐 Analysis: Spirent’s move reinforces its leadership in automated 5G assurance as operators struggle to manage performance across virtualized and containerized layers. Benchmarking at the infrastructure level—before CNF deployment—aligns with broader industry efforts from Keysight, VIAVI, and Nokia to integrate test and observability into cloud-native workflows. This release positions Spirent as a key enabler of 5G SA maturity, particularly for operators targeting multi-cloud and edge-native architectures.
