Spirent Launches OTA for Large-Scale 5G and Wi-Fi Testing

Spirent Communications has introduced the Landslide E20 Over-the-Air (OTA) solution, a carrier-grade platform that automates large-scale testing with real devices across 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi networks. The new system enables true end-to-end validation of handset performance, applications, OS behavior, and service quality under realistic mobility and roaming scenarios—addressing key gaps in today’s fragmented lab testing environments.

Unlike traditional emulation-based labs, Landslide E20 OTA interacts directly with physical handsets, allowing operators and device vendors to simulate full-stack user experiences and ensure robust service performance prior to deployment. The platform supports hundreds of simultaneous devices, offers customizable scripting, and includes built-in support for complex dual-SIM use cases. It complements Spirent’s broader lab-to-live assurance portfolio, which spans pre-launch validation and ongoing live network monitoring.

Key features include end-to-end validation from handset through RAN to core; API-driven real device automation that is UI-independent; concurrent multi-app use case simulation; distributed test scripting and remote UI control; and a scalable rackmount architecture for carrier-grade labs. Landslide E20 OTA is designed for mobile operators, device OEMs, and lab automation teams tackling certification, OS validation, app assurance, 5G/Wi-Fi offload, network slicing, and roaming testing.

“The Landslide E20 OTA solution further reinforces our leadership in scalable, end-to-end service assurance and represents a critical advancement in lab-based OTA testing for the telecommunications industry,” said Anil Kollipara, Vice President of Product Management, Spirent.
