STL (Sterlite Technologies Ltd) posted a solid Q1 FY26 performance with revenues rising 17% year-over-year to INR 1,019 crore and EBITDA up 94% to INR 140 crore. The company’s Optical Networking business led the gains, showing 18.6% revenue growth and 55.7% EBITDA improvement. Order intake for the quarter stood at INR 1,529 crore, pushing the total open order book to INR 4,888 crore, reflecting strong demand across India, Europe, and the U.S.

Key customer wins this quarter include a three-year long-term supply agreement for Intelligently-Bonded Ribbon (IBR) cable with a major European telecom operator and a renewed high-fiber-count OFC order from a leading U.S. client. STL also partnered with Swoop to deliver Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) to 1,000 homes in Western Australia. The Optical Connectivity segment achieved a 23% attach rate, and STL’s Enterprise and Data Center segment accounted for roughly 23% of total revenue—fueled by new AI-ready fibre and copper cabling solutions.

In a significant technical milestone, STL became the first company globally to deploy Multi-Core Fiber (MCF) in both aerial and underground networks. Collaborating with India’s C-DOT, STL achieved 100 km QKD (Quantum Key Distribution) transmission over MCF, and conducted further testing on a live 5 km network with IIT Madras. STL’s patent portfolio reached 740 as of Q1 FY26, and its green hydrogen-powered optical fibre facility in Maharashtra positions it as a sustainability leader in fiber manufacturing.

• Revenue up 17% YoY to INR 1,019 Cr; EBITDA up 94% YoY

• Order intake for Q1 FY26 at INR 1,529 Cr; total order book at INR 4,888 Cr

• Optical Networking revenue grew 18.6% YoY; OC segment attach rate reached 23%

• Signed major LTSA with European telecom and won U.S. high-fiber-count order

• Deployed Multi-Core Fiber with QKD over 100 km; 740 patents now held

• Data Center solutions now target AI workloads with high-capacity fibre & copper cabling

• Green hydrogen facility launched to decarbonize fiber manufacturing

“With our trusted global partnerships and continuous product innovation, we are well-positioned for long-term success. The recent expansion of our AI-led Data Centre portfolio and industry-first innovations like multi-core fibre are addressing the growing global demand for high-speed, secure, and scalable connectivity,” said Ankit Agarwal, Managing Director, STL.

🌐 Why it Matters: STL’s innovations in multi-core fiber and quantum-secure optical networks signal a shift toward high-capacity, secure infrastructure needed for AI-driven data centers and national networks. Its return to growth in North America and strategic LTSA wins highlight renewed competitiveness amid global fiber supply chain shifts.
