Sylva Project Charts the Future of Telco Cloud for 5G and Beyond

The Sylva Project, hosted by Linux Foundation Europe, is redefining telecommunications infrastructure to meet the demands of 5G and future 6G networks. With a focus on cloud-native scalability, energy efficiency, and sustainability, Sylva is laying the groundwork for next-gen telecom services. Supported by a governance board including Deutsche Telekom, Red Hat, Orange, Telefónica, Telecom Italia, and Vodafone, the project aims to deliver a reference architecture that integrates emerging technologies like Open RAN, edge computing, and AI-driven networks.

To address telecom’s critical challenges, Sylva prioritizes modernizing legacy networks and enabling greater operational efficiency. The initiative is developing tools to measure and reduce carbon footprints, incorporating advanced hardware like DPUs and GPUs, and integrating AI to optimize network management. Sylva also ensures that its infrastructure is forward-compatible with technologies like serverless computing and predictive maintenance, keeping pace with rapid digital transformation.

Version 1.2 of Sylva will soon launch, introducing key features to enhance scalability, containerize workloads, and optimize cloud-native operations for telecom providers. This update aligns with the project’s broader vision of a unified infrastructure that bridges traditional telecom functions and modern IT workloads. With sustainability and security at its core, Sylva continues to shape a future-ready platform for telecom operators worldwide.

• Sylva v1.2 enhances performance, scalability, and cloud-native telecom operations.
