T-Mobile Adopts Red Hat OpenShift for Unified Telco Cloud

T-Mobile has selected Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus to power its common telco cloud, unifying operations across its core and far-edge infrastructure. This collaboration enables T-Mobile to automate operations, support cloud-native 5G applications, and expand into edge computing, private networks, and IoT. The adoption of Red Hat’s flexible platform aims to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and accelerate the deployment of new services.

As telecommunications providers face growing demand for cloud flexibility and cost reduction, T-Mobile’s implementation of Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus consolidates and standardizes infrastructure to improve operational efficiency. The platform integrates end-to-end automation, security, and compliance features to simplify managing diverse workloads. With pre-validation and lifecycle management tools, T-Mobile can expedite the deployment of virtualized and cloud-native functions (VNFs, CNFs) while ensuring carrier-grade reliability in hybrid multi-cloud environments.

Partnering with Red Hat also provides T-Mobile access to an extensive open-source ecosystem, facilitating seamless workload integration and accelerating certification processes. By leveraging a standardized telco cloud, T-Mobile and its industry partners can rapidly deploy new services, fostering collaboration and innovation within the telecom sector.
