T-Mobile Hits 6.3 Gbps with 6-Carrier Aggregation

T-Mobile has set a new record for 5G Advanced speeds, achieving peak downlink speeds of 6.3 Gbps in field tests on its production network. Working alongside Nokia and Qualcomm, T-Mobile combined six carriers of low-band and mid-band spectrum on its 5G Standalone (5G SA) network. The tests were conducted using a commercial Samsung Galaxy S25 powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF and a non-commercial test device with Qualcomm’s next-generation X85 Modem-RF, marking a key step forward for 5G Advanced.

In real-world testing, the Samsung Galaxy S25 reached 4.3 Gbps, while the test device equipped with the Qualcomm X85 pushed speeds to 6.3 Gbps. The milestone leverages T-Mobile’s extensive spectrum portfolio, including 2.5 GHz, PCS, AWS, and 600 MHz bands, combined with Nokia’s Massive MIMO radios and advanced beamforming. The achievement demonstrates T-Mobile’s ability to deliver high-performance, real-world 5G capabilities, providing a glimpse into the future of high-speed wireless services.

The collaboration between T-Mobile, Nokia, and Qualcomm showcases the key components of 5G Advanced, including high-order Carrier Aggregation and high-order modulation techniques, validated on a live network. This latest milestone positions T-Mobile to continue delivering faster and more reliable wireless experiences as it evolves its nationwide 5G infrastructure.
